Ditto is a blob-like structure whose real appearance can also be classified as a cellular structure. Although Ditto wouldn’t look like a strong Pokémon from its appearance, it is really useful as Ditto can change its appearance and power to any of the  Pokémon that have been mentioned above in this Article.

Ditto was also part of 151 Pokémon of Gen 1.

Does Ditto change appearance only once?

Ditto doesn’t stay in one Pokémon state forever. There are different Pokémon that Ditto disguises himself in throughout the game usually with an additional generation of Pokémon added in Pokémon GO.

Ditto can be just right behind you but he still won’t show on the map, It is because it is a rare type of Pokémon that doesn’t show on the radar. You will only know that the Pokémon is Ditto only if you catch it.

There is still a way to find if the Pokémon you encountered is a disguise of someone else if it shows the greeting message as “ OH? ” instead of “ Gotcha “ never leave Pokémon like these left alone because these Pokémon have the highest chance of turning out to be Ditto after you catch ‘em.

Ditto and Shiny Pokémons

On the earliest versions, the earliest  Pokémon that could be a disguise for Ditto was Magikarp. Ditto wasn’t at the initial release of the game it was added after some months of its release. When shiny  Pokémon were introduced in the game and Magikarp became one of the first Pokémon to have the ability to go shiny in the game.

Ditto in Pokemon GO has one flaw that it cannot disguise itself as a shiny Pokémon to compensate for that, the company decided to add more Pokémon for Ditto to hide in.

This action by the Pokémon GO company resulted in avoidance of disappointment of the fans!

Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto event

On February 20, 2021, a new event in-game was announced which was named as Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto event, This event unlocked the way to get shiny Ditto for trainers! Basically, this event introduced a shiny variant for the rest of Gen-1 Pokémon in which Ditto was one of them.

Trainers had to buy tickets to play the event and had to complete the Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto Special Research storyline in order to get Ditto in Pokemon go.

A new event called the Tricky Pokémon event was also introduced by Niantic where they added a new form of Ditto that was Purrloin. The event was started on April 1, 2021. Ditto became really common in this event and many trainers can still catch it!

Even after the event ends there is a high probability that Purrloin will remain as the new Ditto in-game.
